Curiosity, and love for life and nature, represent my driving forces since ever. As a biologist, I study life at the molecular and microscopic level, and I am particularly interested in neuroscience; very important to me is also my personal and spiritual research, aimed at investigating the processes underlying my feelings and thoughts, and the meaning of existence, that I carry over both by studying, and by practicing listening and meditation.

My creativity in photography, and art in general, comes from both forms of knowledge; inner silence dissolves the boundary between “me” and external reality, and allows me to tune in with the subject and the situation.

My photographies are thus minimal, often sensual, nearly abstract sometimes; they depict fragments of my inner universe, a “soul’s garden”, unaccessible to words, that I need to explore. Images are the language of unconscious, and a universal language: photography allows me to communicate both with myself, with my unconscious mind, and with others, at a deep level.

Paola Iacopetti’s photographs arise from her wish to overcome the boundary between tangible reality and imagination, senses and emotions, matter and spirit: they address observer’s unconscious mind by creating synesthesia and suggestions.

Paola Iacopetti points her lens (often a macro) to nature’s artworks, looking for shapes and color nuances that vibrate along with her inner world. This is the origin of her personal photographic projects.

From 2017 she has realized some personal exibitions and participated to a number of collective exhibitions in Pietrasanta, Lucca and Pisa.

She collaborates with other visual artists, both by shooting their artworks, and as a curator. In 2019 she curated the personal exhibition “Naturografie. Un racconto d’acqua e di terra” by Roberto Ghezzi at the Museum of Natural History of the University of Pisa. In 2020 she curated the personal exhibition “Ὠκεανός (Ōkeanós)” by Lorenzo Malfatti, at Barbara Paci Art Gallery in Pietrasanta (LU), and wrote the critical text for the catalog.
